Bingen, the third largest city in Klickitat County has a population of 700, several stop signs but no traffic lights. Originally a farming community, latter a lumber mill town with technology startup companies.
Located on the banks of the columbia river in the east end of the columbia river gorge and only 30 miles from three mountains (Mt Hood, Mt Adams and Mt St Helens) bingen offers easy access to sail boarding, white water rafting/kayaking, bird watching, hiking.

excellent resturants and lodging are located in Bingen, White Salmon and in Hood River, Oregon which is only two miles away across the "singing bridge". Antiques, shopping are other popular activities. The City of Portland Oregon is 65 miles down stream with easy access on interstate highway 84.
